W. Ronald McIlveen, P.E.

Ron McIlveen is a foundational force at Architectural Engineering Incorporated, bringing more than 50 years of MEP engineering leadership (39 years with AEI) to the firm’s most demanding commercial projects. A Professional Engineer with expertise in both mechanical and electrical systems, he offers a rare breadth that lets him see a building’s systems as a single, integrated whole rather than a collection of parts.

His mechanical work spans the full range of commercial HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and controls, with particular depth in central plant design — chilled water and thermal energy storage, central condenser water, boiler and hydronic heating, and packaged DX systems. Throughout his career he has championed low-energy and energy-recovery designs that reduce operating costs and extend equipment life. On the electrical side, his experience reaches from conventional low- and high-voltage distribution to central power systems, parallel standby generation, and high-rise bus duct risers, complemented by fully integrated communications, security, fire alarm, and lighting designs.

Ron holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an MBA from Wayne State University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Florida and Connecticut. Ron’s experience proves invaluable in designing and applying well-tested technologies in ways that confirm long-term, dependable performance for every project.
